Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for the Student Success Coach position. This position is responsible for direct services and systems coordination to address student equity gaps and advance student retention and degree/certificate completion. This position primarily provides success coaching, academic and career advising, and empirically-based success interventions to deliver educational experiences that foster improved student success. Reporting to the Associate Director for Academic Advising and Career Services, the Student Success Coach collaborates with key student services departments, students, faculty, and instructional partners to deliver college-wide retention and completion strategies and support services for WCC's diverse student population.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Provide strengths-based success coaching and career and academic advising for students from diverse backgrounds and identities.
-Collaborate with student services staff and faculty to develop and deliver timely communication and holistic supports for students experiencing academic difficulties.
-Facilitate individualized and group success coaching sessions for students on academic warning, probation, suspension, and reinstatement to promote academic progress and completion.
-Provide accurate educational information and navigation support related to college entry processes, degree and certificate requirements, class selection, registration, graduation, university transfer, and college policies and procedures.
-Support student career, major, and interest exploration and ensure accurate reporting of students program intent, advisor assignment, and degree planning.
-Connect students to relevant campus and community resources (e.g., career development, academic planning, academic tutoring, basic needs, health and wellness, campus engagement, financial resources, etc.).
-Provide targeted outreach, success coaching, career and academic advising, and transition support to former students returning to WCC.
-Support current and emerging college retention and completion initiatives and programs (e.g., Early Alert, graduate retrieval, Guided Pathways, etc.).
-Serve on college committees, work groups, and task forces to inform and reform entry, progression, and completion services and practices, as assigned.
-Participate in on-going professional development, including advisor and coach trainings, statewide meetings, and conferences, as appropriate.
-Compile and communicate coaching program status updates and outcomes, as requested.
-Perform duties as assigned and/or delegated by the Associate Director of Academic Advising and Career Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, four years of equivalent professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
-Demonstrated experience supporting diverse populations and demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment, inclusive of people of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Demonstrated experience providing advising and/or student success coaching in a college setting.
-Demonstrated experience teaching and facilitating dynamic, interactive, and innovative group learning sessions (e.g., workshops or classes).
-Bilingual skills (Spanish language preferred).
Salary:
-This is a 12-month, full-time Administrative/Exempt position. Exempt from Washington State civil service law with an annual salary based on a range of $51,500.00 - $55,105.00, depending on experience.
Hours and Environment:
-This position works full-time on campus in an indoor office or classroom environment with direct service to students.
-Forty hours is a standard full-time work week. The typical weekly schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with adjustments to accommodate half-day Friday hours of operation in the summer. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Benefit Package:

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 14.67 hours per month vacation leave.
