Whizz Kids Academy seeks a Cook/Kitchen Manager for its Early Childhood Education Programs at our Magnolia Center.
Since 1992, Whizz Kids Academy has provided affordable, quality childcare in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. The Center is open year-round and licensed for toddlers and preschoolers.
This position will manage all food preparation and kitchen maintenance aspects following proper health standards. This person must have a warm and friendly personality, relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities by our philosophy, goals, mission statement, and job description. They must also be prepared to meet all professional licensing requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for promptly planning breakfast, snack, and lunch menus according to the nutritional guidelines of the Center.
Prepare and distribute food.
Contribute to creative menu planning while keeping children in mind.
Responsible for preparing a shopping list and securing the necessary food and/or equipment items.
Establish a routine for daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen cleaning.
Keeping accurate records of menus and inventory.
Maintain a clean kitchen, including dishes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a Washington State "Food Handler" certification
1 year of managing a kitchen and menu preparation preferred
Ability to lift 35 lbs., manual dexterity and mobility, ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Ability to work independently with a strong level of organizational skills.
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Is conscientious in follow-through on job requirements and can multitask and be a self-starter.
Ability to navigate allergies and food sensitivities in a consistently safe manner
Proof of Covid Vaccination
Must pass a criminal background fingerprint check and negative TB test for pre-employment. Vaccinations must also be up-to-date, and certifications must be provided.
