Job Description
The Edible Hope Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the meals program, Monday-Friday 7am - 12pm. This program operates out of St. Paul’s UCC Church at 6512 12th Ave NW in Seattle, WA.
The Kitchen Manager must demonstrate:
Strong communication and volunteer management skills.
Previous experience with low income and homeless populations.
Willingness to lead by example and engage people of all ages.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to access all the facilities.
Job Responsibilities
The Manager is supervised by and reports to the Edible Hope Program Director or Vicar.
Coordinates and schedules regular and occasional individual and group volunteers.
Procures food and operational supplies and ensures they are properly stored.
Plans and communicates a weekly menu.
Maintains proper records including invoices, meal counts and incident reports.
Ensures the kitchen, dining room and storage areas are clean and safe and that the freezer and refrigerator temperatures are monitored and within required standards.
Recruits volunteers and develops ways to engage guests of the Kitchen in volunteering.
Trains volunteers for service, de-escalation of crisis situations and food safety.
Ensures the safety and security of the food, volunteers and guests by enforcing proper food handling procedures, St. Luke’s Code of Conduct, First Aid procedures and by providing emergency response as necessary.
Compensation and Benefits
25 hour/week, non-exempt (hourly) position.
Starting salary of $28/hour, with annual COLA (cost of living adjustment).
Paid time off and holiday pay.
A five percent (5%) contribution to a 403(b) plan is made for eligible lay employees working a minimum of 1000 hours per year, as of the date of employment, with an additional 4% contribution available on a matching basis.
Requirements
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Completion of Safeguarding God’s People, Safeguarding God’s Children and De-escalation training within the first 6 months of hire.
